Double Trouble
The rabbit’s eyes twinkled. He knew she wouldn’t know the answer. ‘How do you say, ”Good evening,” in Italian?’
‘Why?’ asked Magali.
‘Do you know how to say it, or not?’
‘Yes.’
Mishka’s nose twitched. ‘Really? What is it?’
Magali straightened and said, ‘Good evening!’
The rabbit’s ears flopped. ‘No! In Italian. How do you say it?’
The marmot tried again. ‘La la la! Good evening!’ She smiled and waved her paw.
‘La la la?!’ Mishka’s whiskers flickered. ‘No! It’s Buonasera. You didn’t know!’
‘Why should I know?’
‘Because that’s where we’re going! Ha ha ha!’ The white rabbit hopped in a circle. He hopped so hard that his pompom tail looked liked it was going to bounce right off.
Magali’s mouth dropped open. ‘Italy?! Tonight?! Now?! I can’t stay out that long!’
